The three lines of Casa Trufa
Not every dog needs the same life.
Before you choose a breed, think about the life you want to share with it.
This breed may not be for you.
Saying so is part of our job, too.
If you want a calm dog
a Border Collie may not be the right choice.
If you have little time for daily activity
a working breed may not fit you.
If you want a small dog
a giant breed is probably not your path.
Your climate matters too
Barranquilla is not Tunja.
The altitude where you live changes what suits a dog. This map colors every municipality in Colombia by climate zone and tells you, breed by breed, where the weather would suit it and where we would rather say no.
Drawing the map…

What we are asked most often
What rules does Casa Trufa follow as a breeder?
Casa Trufa is a family kennel in Colombia. It breeds in line with Colombia’s Law 1774 of 2016 on animal protection, which recognizes animals as sentient beings, and handles families’ data under Law 1581 of 2012 on personal data protection (habeas data). Any registrations the kennel holds are published in the footer of the site.
Can I see the parents’ health tests?
Yes. Each parent dog has a public page with its health tests (name of the test, result, date and laboratory) and the document to download. They are in the “Meet the parents” section.
How many litters does Casa Trufa raise a year?
A few. Casa Trufa raises its dogs at home and publishes its planned litters; when there is one, the families on the waiting list hear first. No puppies are kept on hand waiting for someone.
Which breeds does Casa Trufa raise?
Three lines: companion (Maltese, Maltipoo, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Cockapoo), working (Border Collie and Australian Cattle Dog, also known as the Blue Heeler) and large family dogs (Bernese Mountain Dog). The Maltipoo and the Cockapoo are crosses and have no pedigree. Before you choose, the site helps you work out which breed fits your life.
The next home could be yours.
