Delivery
Delivery anywhere in Colombia, with no shortcuts
A Casa Trufa puppy is handed over in person to its family, never before it is 8 weeks old and with its documents. Exactly how depends on where you live and is arranged on WhatsApp; we don’t send a puppy alone by plane or by courier, and we don’t hand one over in the street.
Type the name of your municipality. All 1,122 in Colombia are here.
Where would each breed do well?
Every municipality in Colombia, colored by its climate zone (piso térmico): the altitude band that sets its climate. Pick a breed and the map changes: green where the climate suits it, terracotta where we don’t recommend it. Open your department and tap your municipality to see its altitude, its nearest airport and how a puppy would get there. It all comes from the same data as each department’s tables (how it is calculated).
Drawing the map…
How does a puppy get to your home?
- Pick-up in person. It is the calmest way for the puppy, and the one that lets you meet the mother.
- Accompanied handover by road, when the distance allows it without turning the trip into an ordeal for a puppy.
- A flight in the cabin with a companion, never alone and never in the hold, and only if the airline and the puppy’s age allow it.
- Which of the three applies to you is agreed on WhatsApp, in writing and before any commitment. In all of them the puppy is handed over in person, and never before it is 8 weeks old.
At what age does a puppy go home?
Never before 8 weeks. That is the minimum time a puppy needs with its mother and littermates to learn how to be a dog, and we don’t shorten it for any date.
What the law says today: we have not found a national rule in Colombia that sets a minimum handover age. The ACCC (Asociación Club Canino Colombiano, Colombia’s FCI member kennel club) registers puppies from two months and, according to press reports, Aerocivil (the civil aviation authority) accepts puppies in the cabin from eight weeks. Proyecto de Ley 002 de 2025, a Senate bill, would raise it to four months; it is a bill, and we have not been able to confirm where it stands. If the rule changes, this page changes.
What documents come with the puppy?
- Vaccination record, with the doses due for its age and the veterinarian’s signature.
- Veterinary health certificate and up-to-date deworming.
- A written contract with the terms of the legal guarantee: in Colombia, an animal handed over by a breeder is covered by Law 1480 of 2011 (Consumer Statute).
- The parents’ health test results, which are also published in Meet the parents.
- If the puppy flies, the recent health certificate the airline asks for.
What don’t we do?
- Hand over a puppy in the street, a parking lot or a station. Colombia’s health regulations (Decree 780 of 2016) do not allow selling animals on public streets, and it is also the usual staging of a scam.
- Hand over a puppy in a market square. Bogotá and Bucaramanga have municipal rules that prohibit it.
- Send a puppy alone, in the hold or by courier.
- Hand over a puppy before 8 weeks, even when a special date is in the way.
- Keep quiet if your climate does not suit the breed. A Bernese Mountain Dog in the hot lowlands (tierra caliente) is a bad idea, and we will tell you so.
Outside Colombia
Whether we can place a puppy with a family outside Colombia depends on the destination country’s import rules and on the puppy’s age. Ask us on WhatsApp.
Can you take a puppy from Colombia to the US, Canada or Europe?
What is it like in your department?

Frequently asked questions about delivery
Does Casa Trufa deliver puppies all over Colombia?
We talk to families in any department. How the puppy gets to you depends on where you live, on its age and on what is calmest for the puppy, and it is arranged on WhatsApp before any commitment. We don’t promise “shipping anywhere in the country”: there are climates and journeys where we would rather say no.
At what age does a puppy go home?
Never before 8 weeks old: that is the minimum time a puppy needs with its mother and littermates. We have not found a national rule in Colombia that sets a minimum handover age; the ACCC (Asociación Club Canino Colombiano, Colombia’s FCI member kennel club) registers puppies from two months and, according to press reports, Aerocivil (the civil aviation authority) accepts puppies on flights from eight weeks. A bill in the Senate would raise it to four months.
Can a puppy be sent alone by plane or with a courier?
We don’t do it. A puppy a few weeks old does not travel alone in the hold or by courier. If it has to fly, it goes in the cabin, in its carrier and with a companion, meeting whatever the airline requires that day: the rules for flying with pets are changing and there is a bill going through Congress.
What documents come with the puppy?
Its vaccination record with the doses due for its age, a veterinary health certificate, up-to-date deworming and a written contract with the terms of the legal guarantee under Colombia’s Law 1480 of 2011 (Consumer Statute). If the puppy flies, also the recent health certificate the airline requires.
How much does delivery cost?
It depends on the distance and on how the puppy travels, and we tell you in writing before any commitment. As a market reference, and not ours: in October 2026 a breeder in Cundinamarca published domestic transport rates of COP 360,000 to Medellín or Cali and COP 400,000 to the Coffee Region (Eje Cafetero).
