Delivery policy
This is a courtesy translation. The Spanish version of this page is the one that applies and prevails in case of any difference. Read the Spanish version.
A puppy is not a parcel. This policy says how a puppy is handed over and, above all, how it is not. The detail by department and municipality is in Delivery in Colombia.
1. Minimum age
No puppy leaves the house before eight weeks of age. It is a house rule based on what veterinary and behavior bodies recommend; it does not depend on anyone being in a rush. The specific date for each puppy is confirmed by the veterinarian.
2. Forms of handover
The form of handover is agreed with each family by WhatsApp according to where the family lives and the puppy’s age, and is put in writing before the date.
In every case the puppy is handed over in person to the one who signed the agreement, who must show identification.
3. What we do not do
- We do not hand over puppies in public spaces — parking lots, stations, street corners. Colombia’s health regulations do not allow selling animals in public spaces (Decree 780 of 2016, Article 2.8.5.2.20), and it is also the typical setting for scams.
- We do not send puppies on their own: not in the hold, not as cargo, and not through parcel or courier companies.
- We do not hand over a puppy to a third party who is not named in the agreement.
4. Handover costs
Transport costs depend on the destination and the form of handover, are stated in writing before the date is agreed, and nothing is charged that has not been stated.
5. Travel by plane
The conditions for flying with an animal are set by each airline (minimum age, weight including the carrier, veterinary certificate, quotas and advance notice) and may change; there is also a bill on air transport of companion animals whose status is worth confirming. That is why the conditions of the flight are checked with the airline when the date is agreed. What we know today is in the guide on flying with a puppy within Colombia.
6. Changes of date
If the puppy is not fit to travel on the planned day — the veterinarian decides — the handover is postponed and another date is agreed. If it is the family that cannot make it, another date is also sought; who bears the expenses already incurred because of a change (a ticket, for example) is set out in the written agreement.
7. When you receive the puppy
- Check that you are given the documents your agreement lists (vaccination record, certificate, contract).
- Take the puppy to your veterinarian in the first days: it is the surest way to put its condition on record, for the peace of mind of both parties.
- If you notice anything that is not right, write to us immediately at hola@casatrufa.com or by WhatsApp. How to make a claim is in the guarantee and returns policy.
8. Handovers outside Colombia
We do not arrange international handovers through the website. Taking a dog out of the country requires procedures before the ICA (Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario, Colombia’s agricultural and animal-health authority) and meeting the requirements of the destination country.
This text describes how we work and summarizes Colombian rules in force on the date shown at the foot of the page. It does not replace the contract signed in each case or the advice of a lawyer.
