Tunja is at ≈ 2,700 m (8,860 ft), in the cool climate zone, where the reference temperature is an average between 12 and 17.5 °C (54–64 °F). At that altitude the climate suits all seven breeds we raise.

In the municipalities from about 1,800 m (5,910 ft) up: 87 of the 123 municipalities in Boyacá. The largest are Tunja at ≈ 2,700 m (8,860 ft); Sogamoso at ≈ 2,480 m (8,140 ft); Duitama at ≈ 2,540 m (8,330 ft); Chiquinquirá at ≈ 2,550 m (8,370 ft); Paipa at ≈ 2,510 m (8,230 ft). Everywhere else it comes with reservations or we don’t recommend it, depending on the altitude.

The nearest airport with scheduled flights is El Alcaraván Airport (EYP, Yopal), about 110 km (68 mi) in a straight line from Tunja. The rules for flying with a puppy are changing, so we confirm them with the airline every time; a puppy never travels alone or in the hold.
