How much does a Border Collie cost in Colombia?
By Casa Trufa ·
In October 2026, Border Collies are advertised at between COP 1,500,000 and COP 3,000,000 without registration, and up to COP 6,500,000 with ACCC registration. Merles are published at around COP 2,800,000. These are third-party figures. Registration and the parents’ dysplasia tests are what really change the figure.
What are people asking for a Border Collie in Colombia today?
This is what others publish. We read it on October 7, 2026 and left each figure with its source so you can check it.

Why does the price of a Border Collie vary so much?
- ACCC registration
- It is what moves the price most: on a single page, the registered puppy is advertised at more than four times the figure of the unregistered one.
- Hip and elbow X-rays
- The ACCC requires a dysplasia diagnosis for the breed’s parent dogs, valid from 18 months of age. Without those X-rays, the registration is incomplete.
- Color
- Merle and uncommon colors are advertised at higher prices. Color says nothing about health; a mating of two merles does: it is a serious risk.
- Genetic tests
- CEA, TNS and MDR1. They are DNA tests, inexpensive compared with what they prevent, and a serious breeder has them.
Which health tests should the parents have?
- Hip and elbow dysplasia (official X-rays)
- CEA (collie eye anomaly)
- TNS
- MDR1
Each with a date, a laboratory or clinic, and a document. Our parent dogs’ results are published in Meet the parents.
What should be included, whatever the price?
- A vaccination record with the doses due for its age, signed by a veterinarian.
- Internal and external parasite treatment up to date.
- A recent veterinary health certificate.
- A written contract, with the terms of the legal guarantee (Colombia’s Law 1480 of 2011).
- Both parents’ health tests, with date, laboratory and document.
- A stated handover age: at Casa Trufa, never before eight weeks.
- Support after the puppy goes home.
What are the warning signs in an ad for a Border Collie?
- “Double merle” puppies, or two merle parents.
- “With pedigree” but no registration number you can check with the ACCC.
- A different price for blue eyes or heterochromia.
- A figure far below those in the table. In July 2026 Colombia’s Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía) warned that a price far below the market is the first sign of an online pet scam.
And after the puppy?
The puppy is the small expense. As a rough guide, the business press puts the cost of keeping a dog in Colombia at between COP 2,400,000 and COP 5,000,000 a year; we read the figure in the search engine’s summary. Food, parasite treatments and medication are calculated per kilo, so factor in the breed’s adult weight.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Border Collie with a pedigree cost?
On one of the pages checked in October 2026, the puppy with ACCC registration was advertised at COP 6,500,000, against COP 1,500,000 without registration. Always ask for the parents’ registration number so you can check it.
Is a blue merle Border Collie worth more?
It is advertised at a higher price because the color is sought after. But color does not improve the dog. What you should check is that only one of the parents is merle: mating two merles produces puppies with a high risk of deafness and blindness.
How much does a Casa Trufa Border Collie cost?
Casa Trufa does not publish a fixed figure: every litter is different, and we tell you on WhatsApp, with everything it includes.
